Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DCC plc (LON:DCC), which rose 2.82% or 131.00 points to trade at 4,785.00 at the close. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) added 2.36% or 14.60 points to end at 634.60 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.33% or 11.50 points to 505.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 7.44% or 6.70 points to trade at 83.33 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 3.90% or 16.80 points to end at 414.20 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 2.40% or 54.00 points to 2,193.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1033 to 693 and 493 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.63% or 32.95 to $1,989.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.31% or 0.22 to hit $70.89 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.29 to trade at $74.94 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 102.46.
