Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Oil & Gas Producers and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which rose 3.92% or 246.0 points to trade at 6520.0 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 2.38% or 64.00 points to end at 2754.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was up 1.97% or 46.0 points to 2386.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 7.17% or 56.00 points to trade at 724.60 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 7.09% or 10.75 points to end at 140.85 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) shed 6.59% or 7.01 points to 99.44.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1554 to 773 and 60 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.50% or 9.30 to $1846.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.55% or 0.29 to hit $51.98 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.22 to trade at $55.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.22% to 1.3655, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8881.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 90.470.
