Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.70% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Gas Natural (MC:GAS), which rose 1.64% or 0.305 points to trade at 18.880 at the close. Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) added 1.58% or 0.25 points to end at 16.07 and Repsol (MC:REP) was up 1.49% or 0.175 points to 11.890 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG), which lost 1.32% or 0.062 points to trade at 4.620 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 0.48% or 0.006 points to end at 1.233 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) shed 0.32% or 0.018 points to 5.670.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 119 to 57 and 34 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1351.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.84% or 2.02 to hit $43.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 4.79% or 2.11 to trade at $46.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8608.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 95.71.
