Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which rose 2.57% or 0.89 points to trade at 35.55 at the close. Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) added 2.15% or 0.71 points to end at 33.74 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 2.13% or 0.161 points to 7.715 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which lost 1.85% or 0.053 points to trade at 2.808 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 1.01% or 0.20 points to end at 19.59 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.97% or 0.18 points to 18.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 83 to 42 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.84% to 14.27.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 3.17% or 1.61 to $52.43 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 3.21% or 1.72 to hit $55.36 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.00% or 0.05 to trade at $1185.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.0532, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8665.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 102.16.
