Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which rose 14.68% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.125 at the close. Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) added 8.67% or 0.051 points to end at 0.639 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 5.26% or 0.01 points to 0.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which lost 5.35% or 0.0530 points to trade at 0.9370 in late trade. Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) declined 3.45% or 0.050 points to end at 1.400 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) shed 2.83% or 0.003 points to 0.103.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 49 to 44 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.98% or 13.25 to $1343.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.79% or 1.25 to hit $46.01 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 3.07% or 1.42 to trade at $47.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1070, while EUR/GBP fell 1.42% to 0.8393.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 96.51.
