Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which rose 1.25% or 0.18 points to trade at 14.60 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 0.09% or 0.02 points to end at 22.92 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 33.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 8.33% or 0.84 points to trade at 9.25 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 5.99% or 0.23 points to end at 3.61 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) shed 5.93% or 0.61 points to 9.67.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 241 to 81 and 14 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.11% to 32.90.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.27% or 3.65 to $1342.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.48% or 1.71 to hit $47.40 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 3.11% or 4.40 to trade at $146.00 .
USD/BRL was down 0.11% to 3.2014, while EUR/BRL fell 0.14% to 3.6244.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.52.
