Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the IT, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.00%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC), which rose 5.80% or 94.75 points to trade at 1728.20 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) added 4.32% or 73.90 points to end at 1785.85 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 2.15% or 37.55 points to 1789.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which lost 3.21% or 87.00 points to trade at 2620.35 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 3.11% or 12.10 points to end at 377.25 and Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) shed 3.03% or 8.20 points to 262.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which rose 5.83% to 1728.50, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 2.18% to settle at 1787.95 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 1.32% to close at 1148.55.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 3.29% to 2621.45 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 2.76% to settle at 2484.35 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.43% to 445.65 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1161 to 398 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1814 fell and 830 advanced, while 132 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.43% to 11.2175.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.07% or 13.32 to $1262.72 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $48.84 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.15 to trade at $51.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.38% to 64.109, while EUR/INR fell 0.59% to 75.0786.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 93.43.
