Fuel prices in major Indian cities such as New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai remained stable on Wednesday, despite the volatility observed in several other cities including Noida. Petrol and diesel prices are set by major oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum on a daily basis in accordance with global crude oil prices.

In New Delhi, petrol was sold at Rs 96.72 per litre ($1 = Rs 82.7), while diesel was available at Rs 89.62 per litre. Fuel prices in Mumbai stood at Rs 106.31 for petrol and Rs 94.27 for diesel per litre. Kolkata saw petrol being sold at Rs 106.03 and diesel at Rs 92.76 per litre.

However, fuel rates varied significantly across other cities. In Ghaziabad and Lucknow, petrol prices were recorded at Rs 96.58 and Rs 96.57 per litre respectively, while diesel was available at Rs 89.75 and Rs 89.76 per litre respectively. In Patna, petrol was priced at Rs 107.24 per litre while diesel was available at Rs 94.04 per litre. Bhopal witnessed petrol being sold at Rs 108.65 per litre and diesel at Rs 93.90 per litre. Port Blair had the lowest fuel prices with petrol being sold at Rs 84.10 per litre and diesel at Rs 79.74 per litre.

The recent volatility in fuel prices in several cities has been attributed to the firm trend observed in global crude oil prices.
