Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 2.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia (MC:BKIA), which rose 8.24% or 0.050 points to trade at 0.657 at the close. Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) added 6.61% or 7.10 points to end at 114.60 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 6.28% or 0.568 points to 9.612 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 0.68% or 0.027 points to trade at 3.969 in late trade. FCC (MC:FCC) added 0.03% or 0.002 points to end at 7.536 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) gained 0.70% or 0.070 points to 10.010.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 165 to 28 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.53% or 7.05 to $1317.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.16% or 1.00 to hit $47.33 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 0.93 to trade at $48.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1063, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8312.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 96.29.
