Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Investment Trust, Healthcare and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were AIA Insurance Lanka PLC (CM:AVIV), which rose 24.68% or 70.10 points to trade at 354.10 at the close. Millennium Housing Developers PLC (CM:MHDL) added 14.29% or 0.90 points to end at 7.20 and Multi Finance PLC (CM:MULT) was up 8.40% or 1.10 points to 14.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR), which lost 23.99% or 299.90 points to trade at 950.10 in late trade. Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU) declined 13.43% or 0.90 points to end at 5.80 and Colombo Land and Development Company PLC (CM:CLND) shed 10.71% or 3.00 points to 25.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 61 and 53 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.21% or 0.63 to $52.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.13% or 0.61 to hit $54.77 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.21% or 2.55 to trade at $1198.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.39% to 185.615, while USD/LKR rose 0.07% to 150.220.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 101.40.
