Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gamma Optical (TW:3557), which rose 10.00% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Everfocus Elec (TW:5484) added 9.98% or 0.42 points to end at 4.63 and Tpk Holding (TW:3673) was up 9.96% or 8.50 points to 93.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hannstar Displ (TW:6116), which fell 8.72% or 0.43 points to trade at 4.50 at the close. Da-Li Const (TW:6177) declined 7.29% or 2.15 points to end at 27.35 and Vivotek (TW:3454) was down 6.48% or 5.70 points to 82.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 628 to 216.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.43% or 0.67 to $46.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.41% or 0.71 to hit $49.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1124.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.66% to 32.580, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1939.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 96.31.
