Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Leisure Goods, Travel & Leisure and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 3.20% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SBF 120 index declined 3.39%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH), which fell 0.65% or 1.00 points to trade at 151.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) fell 0.79% or 0.80 points to end at 100.30 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was down 0.84% or 0.51 points to 60.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 7.41% or 0.26 points to trade at 3.23 at the close. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) declined 7.29% or 2.56 points to end at 32.48 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) was down 6.97% or 5.51 points to 73.59.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which rose 2.70% to 43.80, Coface (PA:COFA) which was up 0.07% to settle at 7.19 and Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which lost 0.42% to close at 15.48.
The worst performers were Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which was down 8.98% to 10.540 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 8.11% to settle at 41.085 and CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 8.06% to 0.57 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 612 to 100 and 72 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) fell to all time lows; down 7.29% or 2.56 to 32.48. Shares in CGG (PA:GEPH) fell to all time lows; falling 8.06% or 0.05 to 0.57.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 11.31% to 32.69.
Gold for April delivery was up 3.05% or 35.30 to $1193.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.20% or 0.68 to hit $30.21 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.37% or 0.47 to trade at $33.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1164, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.7745.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.89.
