Investment Strategy

The investment objective of the Fund is to achieve current income, and where appropriate, capital appreciation. The Fund will seek to achieve its objective by investing primarily in U.S. dollar denominated senior secured loans. In addition, the Fund’s investments may include, without limitation, subordinate high yield loans, high yield bonds, noninvestment grade fixed income or debt securities and any other debt instruments determined by the Investment Managers to be consistent with the Fund’s investment objective.

Biography is a Managing Director and a portfolio manager for Barings’ U.S. High Yield Investments Group. Mr. Pacheco shares primary responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Global Credit Income Opportunities Fund. Mr. Pacheco is also responsible for portfolio management for senior secured loan and multi-asset credit strategies. Prior to his current role, Mr. Pacheco was the sector head for commodities and provided lead research coverage of the exploration and production and oilfield services segments within energy. Prior to joining Barings in 2018, Mr. Pacheco held senior investment analyst roles at UBS O’Connor LLC, Bardin Hill Investment Partners, and Chicago Fundamental Investment Partners. Biography Thomas McDonnell is a Managing Director and member of Barings LLC’s U.S. High Yield Investments Group and the U.S. High Yield Investment Committee. His responsibilities include portfolio management for a number of high yield total return portfolios, including global loan and global multi-strategy portfolios. Mr. McDonnell has worked in the industry since 1996 and his experience has encompassed leveraged loans, distressed credit and management of total return focused strategies. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, he was a Managing Director at Patriarch Partners, LLC, where he had active involvement with portfolio company management teams, crisis managers and attorneys to effectuate turn around and recovery plans. Before Patriarch, he worked at Bank of America in the Corporate Finance Group and at Bank One in various risk management and corporate finance positions, specializing in credit risk management and structuring of off balance sheet special purpose entities. Tom holds a B.S. in Business Management, an M.B.A. in Accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and is a Certificate Public Accountant (inactive).

Biography David Mihalick is Head of Private Assets, managing Barings’ global private assets businesses, including global direct lending, private placements and infrastructure debt, private structured finance, funds and co-investments and private equity real assets. He is also a member of Barings’ Senior Leadership Team. Prior to his current role, David served as Head of U.S. Public Fixed Income and Head of U.S. High Yield, where he was responsible for the U.S. High Yield and Investment Grade Investment Groups. David has worked in the financial services industry since 2004. Prior to joining the firm in 2008, he was a Vice President with Wachovia Securities Leveraged Finance Group. At Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) he was responsible for sell-side origination of leveraged loans and high yield bonds to support both corporate and private equity issuers. Prior to entering the financial services industry, he served as an officer in the United States Air Force and worked in the telecommunications industry for 7 years. David holds a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy, an M.S. from the University of Washington and an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University.

Biography Mark Senkpiel is a portfolio manager for Barings’ U.S. High Yield Investments Group and a member of the U.S. High Yield Investment Committee. He is responsible for the management of total rate of return U.S. loan strategies including the Barings Floating Rate Income Fund as well as separately managed accounts on behalf of institutional investors. Mark has worked in the industry since 1974 and his experience has encompassed the management of high yield investments including high yield bonds and senior secured loans. Prior to joining the firm in 2010, Mark was president and managing director of Jefferies Capital Management (“JCM”), where he managed senior secured loans and high yield bonds for institutional clients. Before JCM, he was a managing director of Trust Company of the West (“TCW”) and served as a high yield bond portfolio manager in TCW’s Leveraged Finance Group. He also had a responsibility for structuring and managing TCW’s high yield cash flow CDOs. Prior to TCW, he was an investment director of Allstate Insurance Company where he was responsible for managing the firm’s high yield bond and senior secured loan portfolios. Mark holds a B.A. in Economics from Knox College and an M.B.A. from Roosevelt University.
