Investment Strategy

The investment objective of the Subfund is to achieve the highest possible capital appreciation by investing in the commodities markets. The Subfunds’ investment policy is to use various financial derivative instruments. In this case, the obligations entered into with the derivatives shall be permanently covered by bank deposits, money market instruments or debt securities with a remaining average term to maturity not exceeding 18 months (“Liquid Assets”), and at least 90% of these investments must be denominated in US dollars.

In this role, Mr. Burton is responsible for analyzing and implementing the team's hedging strategies, indexing strategies, and excess return strategies. Prior to joining Credit Suisse in 2005, Mr. Burton served as an Analyst and Derivatives Strategist with Putnam Investments, where he developed the team's analytical tools and managed their options-based yield enhancement strategies, as well as exposure management strategies. Mr. Burton earned a B.S. in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. From June 2007 to May 2009 he was a Managing Director at AIG Financial Products responsible for North American Marketing of commodities-based solutions. From April 1993 to June 2007 he held positions within Credit Suisse. His responsibilities included portfolio management and overseeing a team that was responsible for enhanced commodity and equity index strategies, option based hedging solutions and option arbitrage products. He has been a member of the Commodities Team since August 2010. Mr. Louie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Union College.

Biography Andrew B. Karsh, Director, is a Portfolio Manager and Trader for the Derivatives Team, and Co-Lead Portfolio Manager for the Total Commodity Return strategy. In this role Mr. Karsh is responsible for analyzing and implementing the team's hedging strategies, indexing strategies, and excess return strategies. Prior to his current role, Mr. Karsh served as a Director in the Fixed Income Structuring Group within Credit Suisse’s Investment Banking division where he had extensive experience structuring and executing complex transactions involving derivatives and cash securities. Prior to joining Credit Suisse in 1999, Mr. Karsh worked in Fixed Income and Derivatives trading at Santander Financial Products, and focused on U.S. Government & Mortgage Backed Securities at Bear Stearns and Co. Mr. Karsh earned a BS/BA in Finance from American University’s Kogod College of Business and holds FINRA Series 3, 7 and Series 63 certifications.

Biography Maurizio Pedrini is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse's Asset Management business, based in Zurich. He is Global Co-Head Fixed Income, focusing on retail funds and institu-tional products. He joined Credit Suisse in 1998. Prior to this he was Head of Bond Research and Bond Fund Management at UBS Private Banking. Maurizio has more than 17 years of professional experience in the fixed income and foreign exchange business. Maurizio holds a Master's degree from the University of Zu-rich (specializing in Finance and Monetary Theory) and is a Certified EFFAS Financial Ana-lyst. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Zurich for the EFFAS Financial Analyst study course and at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland on various fixed income topics. Maurizio is a member of the Swiss Bond Commission.
