Investment Strategy

The objective of the Sub-fund is to achieve a long term total return consistent with emerging market equities (as compared to the performance benchmark MSCI Emerging Markets) while producing a lower volatility of returns (comparable to the volatility of a blend of 70% MSCI Emerging Markets/30% Cash (defined as 1 month US LIBID)). Returns from the Sub-fund will be both through the reinvestment of income and from capital gains.

Biography	Ronnie Petrie has spent most of his career investing in Pacific Basin markets. Joining Standard Life in 1996 he continued his Asian coverage running pension fund money. In 2000 Ronnie was appointed Head of the Pacific Basin asset class. More recently he spent two years in Standard Life’s Boston office managing US equities, before moving back to the UK to focus on managing European equities for the Standard Life main fund. Biography	Mr. Way, Head of Asia and GEM Equities, joined Standard Life Investments in 2007. Mr. Way is responsible for the management of the Asia & GEM Equity Team and Asia and GEM investment performance. Prior to joining Standard Life Investments, Mr. Way worked at Ballie Gifford where he held various fund management roles. After graduating from the University of Cambridge with a BA in Economics, Alistair started his investment career in 1993 at Baillie Gifford. After several years managing the European smaller companies funds he switched to Japanese equities in 1999, and managed the Japanese smaller companies products from 2003. Alistair joined Standard Life Investments in May 2007, focusing initially on Japanese equities but then extending coverage to Asia and then Global Emerging Markets; he currently manages the SLI Global Emerging Markets Equity OEIC.
