Investment Strategy

The investment seeks total return, consisting primarily of current income and secondarily of capital appreciation. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets (including the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes) in debt securities issued by corporate and other non-governmental issuers, including dollar-denominated debt securities issued by foreign companies. It also invests at least 60% of total assets in securities that, at the time of purchase, are investment grade securities or in unrated securities determined to be of comparable quality. Under normal circumstances, the fund's average effective duration will be between three and ten years.
