Investment Strategy

The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests primarily in a broad range of equity securities of companies located in emerging market countries. Emerging market countries include those currently considered to be developing by the World Bank, the United Nations, or the countries' governments. These countries typically are located in the Asia-Pacific region, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central America, South America, and Africa. Under normal circumstances, at least 80% of the fund's net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, will be invested in emerging market issuers (80% policy).

Biography Liu-Er Chen, CFA, Senior Vice President, Chief Investment Officer — Emerging Markets and Healthcare, is a Portfolio Manager in Delaware Investments Fund Advisers, a series of Macquarie Investment Management Business Trust. Mr. Chen heads the firm's global Emerging Markets team. Prior to joining Macquarie Investment Management (MIM) in September 2006 in his current position, Mr. Chen spent nearly 11 years at Evergreen Investment Management Company, where he most recently served as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager. Mr. Chen began his career at Evergreen in 1995 as an analyst.

Lewis holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Biography Mr. Gillmore is a graduate of the University of Warwick in Management Science, and has completed the Investment Management Program at the London Business School. In 1990, Mr. Gillmore joined Mondrian Investment Partners’ predecessor organization as a founding member, having previously worked as a senior portfolio manager for Hill Samuel Investment Advisers Ltd., and a portfolio manager at Legal and General Investment Management. He has over thirty years’ experience analyzing equity markets and securities around the world and has managed client portfolios with a wide range of mandates. Mr. Gillmore is CEO and Group CIO of Mondrian, he also chairs the CIO Forum and the Global Equity Research Forum. He sits as a senior member on the Global Equity Strategy Committee.

Biography Akester is a senior portfolio manager with Mondrian Investment Partners Limited, his employer since 1996. Between 1985 and 1996, he served as a director of Hill Samuel Investment Management. Prior to that, he worked as a senior analyst and head of the south-east Asia research team at James Capel, and as a fund manager with Prudential Assurance. Akester is an associate of the Institute of Actuaries, with a certificate in finance and investment.

Biography Dr. Krishnan heads Mondrian’s small-cap strategies. Dr. Krishnan started her investment career in 1993 with Singapore based Koeneman Capital Management. Prior to joining Mondrian in 2000 as a portfolio manager, Dr. Krishnan was an investment consultant with William M Mercer. Upon completion of her BSc in Pure and Applied Mathematics from the National University of Singapore, Dr. Krishnan achieved her MSc in Actuarial Science from City University, London. In 2006, Dr. Krishnan completed her Doctoral program in Investment and Finance from Sir John Cass Business School, City of London. Her doctoral thesis was on ‘Value versus Growth in the Asian Equity Markets.’

Biography Mr. Tilles, Executive Chairman, was educated at the Sorbonne, Warwick University and Heidelberg University.Tilles is a managing director, chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Mondrian Investment Partners Ltd. Prior to joining Mondrian in 1990, he spent 16 years with Hill Samuel Investment Management Group in London, serving in a number of investment capacities. Mr. Tilles was appointed Executive Chairman in November 2007. Mr. Tilles holds the ASIP designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of the UK.
