The Tapiola Corporate Bond mutual fund is a fixed-income fund that invests primarily in securities issued by companies, municipalities and other public corporations in Europe and other OECD countries. For liquidity management purposes, the fund's assets may also be invested in securities issued by governments in the above-mentioned countries. Securities not issued by governments must be rated at the investment-grade level (BBB-, Baa3) by at least one international credit-rating institution. The fund's interest rate risk (modified duration) is mainly between 2 and 7 years. Investments in other currencies than euro-denominated products are hedged with derivatives. Tapiola Corporate Bond can be used to diversify the fixed-income portfolio and with government bonds as an investment that aims for higher returns than government bonds through a moderate increase in the credit risk. The recommended investment period is 2–3 years or more.
