Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LONDON:RRS), which rose 3.59% or 134.00 points to trade at 3863.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LONDON:FRES) added 3.39% or 20.00 points to end at 610.00 and AstraZeneca PLC (LONDON:AZN) was up 2.33% or 99.50 points to 4370.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 4.65% or 6.1500 points to trade at 126.0000 at the close. GKN PLC (LONDON:GKN) declined 3.93% or 11.20 points to end at 273.80 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LONDON:RDSa) was down 3.80% or 62.50 points to 1582.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1449 to 674 and 455 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.84% or 20.50 to $1137.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.45% or 1.62 to hit $45.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.11% or 1.03 to trade at $48.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.05% to 1.5583, while EUR/GBP fell 0.49% to 0.7299.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 94.82.
