Investing.com – Peru equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Banking & Financials and S&P Lima Juniors sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General gained 0.05% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb), which rose 4.71% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.890 at the close. Panoro (LM:PML) added 3.65% or 0.005 points to end at 0.142 and Trevali Mining (LM:TV) was up 2.13% or 0.020 points to 0.960 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Corporacion Aceros Arequipa SA (LM:ARE), which lost 3.23% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.600 in late trade. Luz Del Sur (LM:LUZ) declined 1.64% or 0.210 points to end at 12.580 and Inretail Peru (LM:INR) shed 1.55% or 0.300 points to 19.100.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 15 to 12 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.46% or 0.24 to $52.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.25% or 0.14 to hit $55.19 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.54% or 6.70 to trade at $1242.80 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was down 0.36% to 3.2840, while EUR/PEN rose 0.01% to 3.5160.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 100.19.
