Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 2.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 9.61% or 0.0372 points to trade at 0.4241 at the close. Tenaris (MI:TENR) added 6.58% or 0.93 points to end at 15.07 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) was up 5.68% or 1.1500 points to 21.4000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yoox Net-A-Porter Group SpA (MI:YNAP), which lost 2.26% or 0.59 points to trade at 25.52 in late trade. Ferrari NV (MI:RACE) declined 0.29% or 0.15 points to end at 51.70 and UBI Banca (MI:UBI) shed 0.19% or 0.0040 points to 2.1080.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 299 to 102 and 25 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 8.53% or 3.86 to $49.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 8.96% or 4.24 to hit $51.56 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.23% or 14.65 to trade at $1176.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.0592, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.8476.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.58% at 101.57.
