Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which rose 1.63% or 1.52 points to trade at 94.52 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 1.17% or 0.15 points to end at 12.98 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 0.95% or 0.41 points to 44.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which lost 4.33% or 2.58 points to trade at 56.95 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 3.79% or 0.198 points to end at 5.022 and Randstad (AS:RAND) shed 1.67% or 0.66 points to 38.84.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 96 to 61 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.60% to 17.99 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.76% or 0.35 to $45.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.40% or 0.19 to hit $46.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.32% or 4.25 to trade at $1333.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1015, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.8403.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 97.10.
