Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Construction and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.28%, while the MDAX index fell 0.20%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.20% or 0.189 points to trade at 6.087 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 2.34% or 0.290 points to end at 12.685 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 2.24% or 0.235 points to 10.715 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 2.37% or 1.790 points to trade at 73.860 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.16% or 0.42 points to end at 35.66 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 0.62% or 0.095 points to 15.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which rose 1.99% to 18.155, RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was up 1.74% to settle at 79.420 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 1.54% to close at 8.69.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 3.66% to 5.88 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 2.57% to settle at 22.410 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 1.44% to 48.620 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which rose 4.15% to 16.170, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 3.16% to settle at 31.650 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 1.25% to close at 42.915.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 1.26% to 6.340 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 1.12% to settle at 54.630 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.09% to 186.450 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 459 to 411 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.11% or 14.95 to $1331.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.85% or 1.37 to hit $46.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.82% or 0.91 to trade at $49.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.40% to 1.1261, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.8503.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 94.75.
