Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB fell 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU), which rose 6.17% or 0.90 points to trade at 15.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) added 3.32% or 0.38 points to end at 11.82 and Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) was up 2.71% or 2.40 points to 91.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI), which fell 4.13% or 0.340 points to trade at 7.900 at the close. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS) declined 3.70% or 0.0680 points to end at 1.7720 and Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) was down 3.44% or 0.28 points to 7.87.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 262 to 191 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU) rose to 5-year highs; up 6.17% or 0.90 to 15.48.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.54% or 1.22 to $49.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.12% or 0.59 to hit $53.90 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.10 to trade at $1095.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1025, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7056.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 96.95.
