Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Financial Services and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.55%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.04%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.62%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 10.20% or 1.350 points to trade at 14.580 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 8.22% or 0.519 points to end at 6.835 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 3.69% or 2.220 points to 62.340 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which fell 3.95% or 0.345 points to trade at 8.383 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 3.10% or 0.360 points to end at 11.260 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.06% or 0.050 points to 79.240.
The top performers on the MDAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which rose 4.90% to 26.86, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 4.52% to settle at 22.640 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which gained 3.86% to close at 23.020.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 3.60% to 26.920 in late trade, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (DE:KCOGn) which lost 2.28% to settle at 7.681 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was down 1.00% to 12.380 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which rose 9.26% to 203.000, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was up 8.51% to settle at 52.430 and QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which gained 7.33% to close at 1.420.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 1.65% to 3.040 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 0.90% to settle at 26.360 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which was down 0.12% to 12.750 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 528 to 164 and 31 ended unchanged.
Shares in Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.60% or 1.005 to 26.920.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.78% to 30.04.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.33% or 3.90 to $1194.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.18% or 0.05 to hit $27.89 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.80% or 0.85 to trade at $31.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.7767.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 96.22.
