Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 2.78% or 0.204 points to trade at 7.544 at the close. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) added 2.03% or 0.052 points to end at 2.608 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 1.33% or 0.79 points to 60.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which lost 2.00% or 0.30 points to trade at 14.70 in late trade. NN Group (AS:NN) declined 1.24% or 0.41 points to end at 32.20 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 1.13% or 0.058 points to 5.078.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 76 to 53 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.61% to 14.74.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.20% or 0.11 to $53.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.84 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.83% or 10.00 to trade at $1218.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.0792, while EUR/GBP rose 1.09% to 0.8600.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 99.58.
