Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Financial Services and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.21%, while the MDAX index gained 0.31%, and the TecDAX index added 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which rose 1.37% or 1.65 points to trade at 122.50 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 1.30% or 2.05 points to end at 159.35 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 1.05% or 0.160 points to 15.360 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 1.27% or 0.094 points to trade at 7.305 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 1.20% or 0.100 points to end at 8.266 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 1.11% or 1.50 points to 134.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 3.59% to 39.57, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 2.25% to settle at 74.640 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 1.51% to close at 69.200.
The worst performers were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 8.18% to 21.315 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which lost 2.07% to settle at 15.88 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.81% to 51.550 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 4.96% to 11.855, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 2.96% to settle at 40.810 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 2.44% to close at 195.55.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 2.48% to 40.850 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 1.64% to settle at 10.205 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 0.86% to 26.975 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 382 to 361 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.62% to 16.24.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.45 to $1257.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.73% or 0.87 to hit $51.11 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.03% or 1.08 to trade at $54.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0661, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8577.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 100.50.
