Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Industrials and IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Aimia Inc (TO:AIM), which rose 16.22% or 0.54 points to trade at 3.87 at the close. Boardwalk REIT (TO:BEI_u) added 6.55% or 2.95 points to end at 48.01 and Alacer Gold Corp (TO:ASR) was up 5.24% or 0.110 points to 2.210 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Home Capital Group Inc . (TO:HCG), which lost 15.45% or 1.67 points to trade at 9.14 in late trade. Badger Daylighting Ltd . (TO:BAD) declined 14.27% or 4.36 points to end at 26.20 and Enercare Inc (TO:ECI) shed 10.65% or 2.26 points to 18.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 600 to 506 and 151 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 7.41% to 13.34.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.32% or 3.95 to $1228.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.13% or 0.06 to hit $47.89 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.11 to trade at $50.88 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.22% to 0.7290, while CAD/EUR fell 0.77% to 0.6670.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 99.06.
