Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.60% or 60.00 points to trade at 1725.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 3.51% or 28.00 points to end at 825.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.79% or 21.20 points to 780.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Berkeley Group Hldgs (LON:BKGH), which lost 3.56% or 114.00 points to trade at 3093.00 in late trade. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 3.27% or 6.00 points to end at 177.50 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) shed 2.99% or 48.00 points to 1557.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1029 to 1022 and 349 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.64% or 8.25 to $1271.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.83% or 0.38 to hit $46.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.48 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.72% to 1.2730, while EUR/GBP rose 0.70% to 0.8795.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 97.26.
