Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Footwear & Textile, Plantations and Banking, Financials & Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM:MORI), which rose 18.80% or 79.90 points to trade at 505.00 at the close. Ceylon Printers PLC (CM:CPRT) added 17.24% or 13.00 points to end at 88.40 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 12.50% or 0.1000 points to 0.9000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PC Pharma PLC (CM:PCPH), which lost 50.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.1000 in late trade. Nanda Investments and Finance PLC (CM:NAND) declined 15.47% or 8.20 points to end at 44.80 and Ramboda Falls PLC (CM:RFLL) shed 10.05% or 2.20 points to 19.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 99 to 87 and 56 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.56% or 0.24 to $42.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.80% or 0.36 to hit $45.18 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.53% or 6.58 to trade at $1252.38 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.00% to 194.030, while USD/LKR fell 0.03% to 153.160.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 97.22.
