Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Food and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 1.25% to hit a new all time low.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Enea SA (WA:ENAE), which rose 4.10% or 0.42 points to trade at 10.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) added 3.45% or 1.90 points to end at 56.90 and Energa SA (WA:ENGP) was up 2.67% or 0.31 points to 11.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eurocash SA (WA:EUR), which fell 4.33% or 2.05 points to trade at 45.25 at the close. Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW) declined 3.97% or 2.94 points to end at 71.07 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was down 3.96% or 0.11 points to 2.67.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 391 to 152 and 105 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 5.85% or 1.73 to $27.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 4.75% or 1.36 to hit $27.39 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.38% or 15.00 to trade at $1104.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 1.17% to 4.5015, while USD/PLN rose 1.17% to 4.1269.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 99.05.
