Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Media and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.88%, while the MDAX index fell 0.80%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 0.39% or 0.032 points to trade at 8.243 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG) added 0.38% or 0.450 points to end at 117.950 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.08% or 0.070 points to 83.480 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 2.80% or 0.300 points to trade at 10.415 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 2.23% or 0.910 points to end at 39.955 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 1.83% or 2.250 points to 120.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 1.54% to 22.755, Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which was up 0.79% to settle at 26.220 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which gained 0.68% to close at 30.185.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 3.91% to 25.835 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 2.69% to settle at 34.37 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 2.22% to 56.250 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which rose 1.29% to 25.875, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.14% to settle at 32.010 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 0.43% to close at 33.000.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 2.98% to 31.065 in late trade, Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which lost 2.40% to settle at 23.805 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 2.10% to 38.700 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 651 to 215 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.33% or 4.35 to $1325.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.45% or 0.21 to hit $46.98 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.33 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1275, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8555.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 94.76.
