Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Motors, Healthcare and Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE), which rose 15.00% or 0.30 points to trade at 2.30 at the close. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) added 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) was up 12.50% or 10.00 points to 90.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which lost 21.39% or 299.50 points to trade at 1100.50 in late trade. Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) declined 12.98% or 298.20 points to end at 2000.00 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) shed 11.11% or 0.100 points to 0.800.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 95 and 49 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.63% or 0.29 to $46.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.84% or 0.41 to hit $48.32 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.65 to trade at $1317.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.12% to 190.670, while USD/LKR rose 0.15% to 145.750.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 96.04.
