Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.14%, while the MDAX index gained 1.13%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.53% or 0.515 points to trade at 15.095 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 2.83% or 0.410 points to end at 14.915 and Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) was up 2.58% or 2.05 points to 81.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 0.07% or 0.10 points to trade at 136.25 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) added 0.04% or 0.05 points to end at 119.35 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) gained 0.06% or 0.010 points to 17.105.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 8.83% to 43.815, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 5.92% to settle at 30.670 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which gained 3.43% to close at 14.795.
The worst performers were Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which was down 1.27% to 441.40 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 0.48% to settle at 33.925 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 0.31% to 31.040 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 10.48% to 11.490, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 4.53% to settle at 92.990 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which gained 3.80% to close at 109.20.
The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 0.02% to 48.740 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 0.05% to settle at 38.955 and Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was up 0.20% to 101.100 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 530 to 186 and 17 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.47% to 14.34.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.28% or 3.45 to $1246.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.54% or 0.26 to hit $47.78 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.08 to trade at $50.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0784, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8609.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 99.54.
