Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Industrial Metals & Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which rose 4.40% or 5.8000 points to trade at 137.6000 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL) added 3.87% or 26.20 points to end at 703.90 and Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LONDON:ADN) was up 3.02% or 9.30 points to 317.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Whitbread PLC (LONDON:WTB), which fell 1.59% or 75.00 points to trade at 4636.00 at the close. Next PLC (LONDON:NXT) declined 0.92% or 70.00 points to end at 7545.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LONDON:AHT) was down 0.66% or 6.50 points to 974.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1481 to 634 and 470 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.30 to $1123.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.41% or 0.19 to hit $45.86 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.50% or 1.67 to trade at $49.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.63% to 1.5372, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.7270.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.03.
