Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Food & Drug Retailers and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which rose 4.29% or 21.10 points to trade at 513.00 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 2.87% or 14.500 points to end at 520.000 and Weir Group PLC (LON:WEIR) was up 2.03% or 25.00 points to 1254.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inmarsat PLC (LON:ISA), which lost 4.04% or 30.50 points to trade at 724.50 in late trade. Sports Direct International PLC (LON:SPD) declined 4.04% or 14.900 points to end at 354.100 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) shed 2.56% or 4.2000 points to 160.1000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1142 to 893 and 506 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.43% or 5.45 to $1247.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.47% or 0.71 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.68% or 0.82 to trade at $47.90 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.42% to 1.4453, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7746.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 95.43.
