Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Information Technology and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 4.11% or 2.80 points to trade at 71.00 at the close. KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) added 3.32% or 2.34 points to end at 72.74 and Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) was up 1.75% or 0.77 points to 44.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER), which lost 3.19% or 1.91 points to trade at 58.00 in late trade. Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN) declined 2.21% or 0.11 points to end at 4.87 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) shed 1.56% or 0.040 points to 2.520.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 287 to 245 and 214 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.61% or 0.27 to $44.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $45.61 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.97% or 25.65 to trade at $1278.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.12% to 4.3307, while USD/PLN rose 1.05% to 3.9242.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.92% at 97.83.
