Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 3.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which rose 14.04% or 0.080 points to trade at 0.650 at the close. Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) added 8.92% or 0.140 points to end at 1.710 and Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr) was up 8.73% or 0.1100 points to 1.3700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iaso (AT:IASr), which lost 10.02% or 0.044 points to trade at 0.395 in late trade. Reds (AT:CAMr) declined 5.94% or 0.019 points to end at 0.301 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) shed 3.00% or 0.021 points to 0.678.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 26 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.42% or 5.20 to $1236.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.40% or 0.48 to hit $34.88 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.31 to trade at $37.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.0832, while EUR/GBP fell 1.19% to 0.7697.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 98.50.
