Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 5.17% or 1.73 points to trade at 35.19 at the close. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) added 5.13% or 0.830 points to end at 17.005 and SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) was up 4.60% or 0.62 points to 14.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 3.47% or 0.90 points to trade at 24.91 in late trade. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) declined 1.56% or 0.55 points to end at 34.63 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) shed 1.33% or 2.10 points to 156.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 64 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.27% to 11.32.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.05% or 0.60 to $57.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.32% or 0.84 to hit $64.53 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.81% or 10.37 to trade at $1286.17 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1590, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8846.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 94.79.
