Shares of Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) are trading around 1.5% lower in pre-market on Tuesday, following a Reuters report the company had to halt production at its Berlin factory, after suspected arson set an electricity pylon on fire in a field close to the cite.
According to local reports, the fire has not touched the plant itself, although the factory was left without power.
A spokesperson from Tesla confirmed the production had been stopped and the site evacuated. As of now, the company has not provided a timeline of when the production may resume.
German police on site said they're investigating a possible arson attack.
In the past, the company's Berlin plant has often been a subject of vocal criticism from environmental groups.
