The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which rose 5.18% or 12.80 points to trade at 259.70 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 4.17% or 49.00 points to end at 1225.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 3.80% or 5.05 points to 138.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which lost 4.81% or 5.48 points to trade at 108.36 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 3.63% or 73.30 points to end at 1943.20 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) shed 1.77% or 28.00 points to 1556.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1181 to 838 and 356 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.03% or 13.45 to $1295.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.45% or 0.26 to hit $58.52 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.27 to trade at $67.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.50% to 1.3270, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8516.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 96.738.
