Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.91% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.96% or 2.740 points to trade at 57.960 at the close. ASML Holding (AS:ASML) added 3.11% or 3.05 points to end at 101.05 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was up 2.94% or 0.61 points to 21.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 1.62% or 0.123 points to trade at 7.457 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 0.81% or 1.75 points to end at 213.75 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) shed 0.73% or 0.52 points to 70.34.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 80 to 44 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.93% to 14.54.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.10% or 0.05 to $50.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $53.95 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 3.05% or 35.55 to trade at $1128.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.35% to 1.0392, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8375.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.26% at 103.32.
