Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Construction, Banking and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 4.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP), which fell 1.04% or 0.07 points to trade at 6.67 at the close. Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) fell 1.30% or 1.80 points to end at 136.43 and Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) was down 1.39% or 0.30 points to 21.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which lost 9.89% or 548.80 points to trade at 5000.00 in late trade. mBank (WA:MBK) declined 8.73% or 29.10 points to end at 304.30 and Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) shed 7.87% or 4.35 points to 50.89.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 445 to 90 and 144 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 4.31% or 2.16 to $47.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 4.40% or 2.24 to hit $48.67 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 4.69% or 59.20 to trade at $1322.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 2.10% to 4.4585, while USD/PLN rose 4.41% to 4.0045.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.33% at 95.50.
