Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 3.99% to hit a new 3-year low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Recordati (MI:RECI), which rose 0.94% or 0.24 points to trade at 25.69 at the close. Italcementi (MI:ITAI) added 0.10% or 0.010 points to end at 10.490 and Terna (MI:TRN) was up 0.09% or 0.004 points to 4.528 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 13.34% or 0.0606 points to trade at 0.3936 in late trade. Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) declined 12.77% or 0.678 points to end at 4.632 and Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) shed 11.84% or 1.99 points to 14.82.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 359 to 64 and 11 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 3.00% or 1.43 to $46.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.90% or 1.42 to hit $47.62 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.45 to trade at $1324.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1029, while EUR/GBP rose 2.79% to 0.8353.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.91% at 96.50.
