US, Canadian Minutes And Employment

  • The FOMC’s meeting minutes, released last week, contained more information on the Federal Reserve’s inaction in September.
  • To no one’s surprise, the Fed’s decision to delay its first rate increase in close to 10 years was largely due to committee members’ concerns about slowing economic growth in China.
  • Last week it was Canada’s turn to take the pulse of the employment market and the figures were somewhat disappointing. The Canadian economy created 12.1K jobs in September, but the gains were largely due to growth in part-time jobs and self-employed work.
