Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Other Electronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.98% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452), which rose 9.88% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Hitron Tech (TW:2419) added 8.53% or 1.45 points to end at 18.45 and Shenmao (TW:3305) was up 6.81% or 1.55 points to 24.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ygg (TW:1589), which fell 7.97% or 17.50 points to trade at 202.00 at the close. Radiant (TW:6176) declined 7.86% or 5.10 points to end at 59.80 and Chenming Mold (TW:3013) was down 7.83% or 1.30 points to 15.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 732 to 115 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hitron Tech (TW:2419) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.53% or 1.45 to 18.45. Shares in Radiant (TW:6176) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.86% or 5.10 to 59.80.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 2.62% or 0.78 to $28.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 2.05% or 0.59 to hit $28.23 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.20 to trade at $1092.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.33% to 33.703, while TWD/CNY rose 0.46% to 0.1981.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 98.85.
