Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Utilities and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 4.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Halcor (AT:XAKO), which rose 3.73% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.250 at the close. Meanwhile, Intralot (AT:INLr) added 2.56% or 0.03 points to end at 1.20 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) was up 2.22% or 0.03 points to 1.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which fell 15.22% or 0.028 points to trade at 0.156 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) declined 11.43% or 0.084 points to end at 0.651 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was down 10.00% or 0.03 points to 0.23.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 64 to 25 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) fell to 52-week lows; losing 11.43% or 0.084 to 0.651. Shares in National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) fell to all time lows; down 10.00% or 0.03 to 0.23.
Gold for April delivery was up 1.07% or 12.10 to $1139.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 4.92% or 1.47 to hit $31.35 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 4.95% or 1.62 to trade at $34.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.33% to 1.1063, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.7581.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.36% at 97.52.
