Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 7.17% or 0.24 points to trade at 3.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) added 6.53% or 0.33 points to end at 5.34 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 6.09% or 1.39 points to 24.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 2.82% or 1.64 points to trade at 56.61 at the close. Relx NV (AS:RELN) declined 1.08% or 0.160 points to end at 14.645 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was down 0.67% or 0.34 points to 49.73.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 108 to 61 and 8 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.73% to 27.43.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 5.83% or 1.77 to $32.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 6.05% or 1.90 to hit $33.20 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.29% or 14.30 to trade at $1119.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0840, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.7552.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 99.21.
