Investing.com – Peru equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Banking & Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General lost 1.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Aceros Arequip (LM:AREi), which rose 1.64% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.620 at the close. Unacem (LM:CEL) added 0.80% or 0.020 points to end at 2.520 and Backus Johnsto (LM:BKJi) was up 0.07% or 0.010 points to 14.110 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Panoro (LM:PML), which lost 5.00% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.133 in late trade. Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC) declined 3.83% or 1.01 points to end at 25.39 and Sociedad Minera el Brocal SAA (LM:BRO) shed 3.57% or 0.200 points to 5.400.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 6 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 4.35% or 2.13 to $46.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $48.20 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.44% or 19.30 to trade at $1358.30 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was unchanged 0.00% to 3.2845, while EUR/PEN unchanged 0.00% to 3.6659.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.69% at 96.27.
