Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.84% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index gained 0.78%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which rose 1.92% or 1.800 points to trade at 95.600 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 1.66% or 0.49 points to end at 30.08 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.65% or 2.100 points to 129.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 1.68% or 0.195 points to trade at 11.380 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.96% or 0.074 points to end at 7.661 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 0.41% or 0.650 points to 158.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 4.91% to 22.420, Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was up 4.12% to settle at 62.713 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 2.67% to close at 13.44.
The worst performers were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 3.50% to 75.820 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 3.05% to settle at 34.135 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 1.70% to 37.805 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 3.16% to 13.050, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 1.83% to settle at 19.160 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 1.58% to close at 25.675.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 5.15% to 39.165 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 2.67% to settle at 8.465 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 1.78% to 41.010 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 452 to 301 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.69% to 16.51.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.65% or 7.55 to $1158.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $52.87 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $55.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0625, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8374.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 101.06.
